Bridges
Dental bridges can be used to fit a long-lasting replacement tooth by it being carefully attached to your adjacent, anchoring teeth. They consist of two or more anchoring teeth with a false tooth or teeth positioned snugly in-between. Restore your smile and your confidence by replacing a missing tooth with a bridge.
What does treatment involve?
Firstly the anchoring teeth are prepared by removing some enamel to make room for a crown and then we take impressions of the teeth to help with the building of a tailor-made bridge. A temporary bridge will be popped in to protect the exposed teeth while you are waiting for your new one.
During your second visit, your shiny new bridge checked and adjusted to ensure it fits perfectly.
Bridge benefits
- You smile more easily
- Your speech is improved
- You can chew properly
- The shape of your face is improved
- Your ‘bite’ is better
- Existing teeth are kept in place
How do I look after my bridge?
It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene to keep your natural teeth strong and healthy as the teeth surrounding the bridge provide that essential foundation. This involves regular brushing, flossing, using mouthwash and going easy on sugary foods. If you keep this up, and come and see us regularly, you can expect a fixed bridge to last for at least 10 years.
